Program Schedule

One of our individual qualities is that we offer a personalized service to students within the community, and therefore, we will deviate from our typical schedule to accommodate your child to the best of our ability.  Below is our regular schedule; however, we can, if necessary, discuss alternative options in order to meet your schedule.

Our Homework Assistance Program (HAP)

Choice of Days

HAP is offered five days a week, and parents can opt for any number of days, though we recommend that you enroll for a minimum of 2 days per week.  Most of our parents opt for 4 days a week, Monday through Thursday, so that daily homework assignments get completed and checked, ready to be turned in the following day, or by their due date.

Time

HAP is offered 3:00-4:00 p.m.  During this time, there will be full supervision of all students enrolled in the program.  We can have students continue with their homework beyond 4:00pm, upon request.

What to expect from HAP

Our objective is to ensure that the child’s homework assignment provided by the student’s teacher is carried out correctly. If a student does not comprehend any part of their assignment, then it will be the duty of our Tutors and Tutor Assistants to assist in their learning process. The main focus of this program is quality.  It is our role to provide help through guidance and explanation, in order to ensure that your child has understood the material or methods that are appropriate for his or her grade level. Often, a large proportion of Tutors’ and Tutor Assistants' time is spent on teaching and re-teaching; for this reason we cannot guarantee that students will always complete all of their homework assignments.  Homework that is not completed in class must be taken home for completion. It is recommended that parents continue to check their child’s homework.

If students complete their homework before the end of the time period, they will be given a choice of educational worksheets to occupy the remainder of the tutoring session. These worksheets are carefully selected for each individual student to meet his or her specific needs.  This time is also supervised and our Tutors will be responsible for guiding the students, as required.

Our Subject Tutoring Program (STP)

Choice of Days/Times

STP is offered five days a week, and parents can opt for any number of days, though we recommend that you enroll for a minimum of 2 days per subject particularly in Language Arts and Math.

Time Options

STP is offered at two different times.  Students can either start at 3:00p.m. if they are enrolling in STP alone, or at 4:10p.m. if they are enrolling in STP after HAP.  For the students starting at the later time, there will be a 10 minute break between 4:00-4:10p.m.  Students will be fully supervised during break time.  It may be possible to accommodate different combinations of times and durations, however, you would need to speak with the Director about your prefered options.

Tutor/TA Set-Up

Tutoring is carried out by our Tutor Assistants on a one-on-one or small group basis, comprising no more than 4 students who are at the same grade and ability level.  A qualified Tutor will be responsible for overseeing and guiding our TA’s in conducting the tutoring, and will also be responsible for the continual monitoring of students’ progress.

Recommended Schedule (flexible)

A typical week's schedule would be as follows:

2:48 - Students congregate at the lunch tables after school under full supervision.

2:55 - Students are taken into their respective classrooms

3:00 - Students begin HAP (homework program) or STP (subject tutoring)

4:00 - Student Break

4:10 - Students begin STP (subject tutoring)

4:55 - Students are escorted back out to the lunch bench area for parent pick-up.

Materials

Ready Study Go! has selected to purchase its language arts materials from Great Source, a subsidiary of Houghton Mifflin (one of the publishers used by many teachers within the ABC Unified School District).  We are offering students a choice of 2 different workbooks, both books combine reading and writing skills. The Sourcebook has been designed for students performing below their current grade level. The Daybook is meant for students performing at, or possibly a little above their current grade level. It is important that we carefully select the correct tutorial book for your child.  We can assist you with that process.

The math tutoring materials we have selected are the Houghton Mifflin Mathematices book, along with the Teacher's Editions and accompanying math books, such as Spiral Review and Extra Practice.  By using the text books used in school, it allows for students to review concepts and problems covered in class during the day or week by their teacher.

We also use the regular school text books for other subjects, including Science, Social Science and so on, for the same reasons outlined above.
